Aberdeen Art Gallery - Textile project

Such a lovely project to be involved in, working in the Art gallery education room from tuesday untill Saturday, my idea was to create large origami type animals from fabric to relate to the wildlife photography exhibition being shown upstairs. It was a lot of hard work and long hours but the end result was one i was pretty happy with and thankfully the feed back has been really positive! On the saturday the public came into the studio to help us out by making pom poms- for the tails of the fox's or fluffy birds to hang in the studio, everyone seem to enjoy it and many pom poms were made by all ages from little tots to grandads ;)

Thought i would share some pic examples of the kids work in the classes ive done recently .... also Good Ideas for crafting with your kids during the holidays ...The matchbox people were sooo cute you can make the box their house, bed, or even a tv for them to act in ;) Use the matches to make the little people with thread, fabric or pipe cleaners.. really just anything you have lying around

June Birthday

I had my birthday in June and what a lovely birthday it was, here are some of the highlights ....lovely handdrawn pics in my birthday card from kim 

 also a lovely cake with my fav curly wurly stuck on top...yummers!!!

And then some homemade sushi...yummy and fun!!!!

Ireland

Spent a few days in Dublin Ireland, i have to say it was very different to what i expected .... for some strange reason i thought it was going to be just like Scotland  ;/ ... but NO not at all ( in my opinion) its more like sweden & denmark with a little bit of glasgow, sprinkled with that irish charm! The people were the most friendly i have ever come across :)

 A hard boiled egg ...looking all ready for easter!!

Stages of an art peice i put into 'aberdeen artists' last week,fingers crossed it gets excepted! I used all recycled Wrappers from cyprus & sewed them together to make this lap -travel Quilt

Popped in past Coco violet a few days ago to see how my jewellery was doing..it really is such a lovely shop and smells devine too. worth a look for a special gift or a stunning dress.

Was also great to see them on TV, 'hotter than your daughter'..Sheena you were greeeat!!.x

It was mothers Day on Sunday and i was really spoiled... here is a pic of the little drawing on my card envelope ..i just loved it!! The wrapping paper was also amazing! x

I helped out in the 'Junction' on Sat its such a lovely gallery and shop really worth a look if you haven't been in yet, Elaine has also now moved her framing workshop into the shop so if you need anything framed her prices are good.

Where has March gone!!

My march has been busy, some of the highlights were..

Nothing to see here. An extreme event made by the people of Aberdeen and the Nation Theatre of Scotland at linksfield community centre.......This really was an amazing experience!!

Rollerskating uv disco... 130 youth with dancing, rollerskating, uv lighting and a guest performance from MJ :)fun fun fun!!

  

Day 21-24

So today was pretty packed but fun... Went to the 'Gas works' printing studio and did some t-shirt printing. Its a great studio, i would highly recommend using it and Lindsay is super nice and helpful.

                                                          

Had the official opening of the art works and signs at TYC with the Lord Provost and local councillors, it went really well and the cake looked greeaat!!!

Day 19-20

Yesterday and today ive been putting on new anti-virus protection on my laptop.... so frustrating!! On a lighter note ... ive been doing a class at Hazelwood school making easter chicks (to cover easter eggs) sooo cute!! 

I got a really sweet easter bird brooch today from my work friend Lo...... thanks lo :)

Also tonight i made marshmallow treats for my primary class tomor, although they will have to be judged on taste and not looks...as you can see lol
